Kosciusko Business Leadership Network Project is an opportunity for Warsaw to be a leader in economic  development by maximizing its human capital. The BLN project utilizes a business to business approach to educate, and promote the business imperative of including people with disabilities in the workforce.

  • Buying power of this market $220 billion
  • Annual aggregate spending of people with disabilities- $1 trillion-adding parents, siblings, children, friends, co-workers and neighbors expands this to $3 trillion

Kosciusko County is the orthopedic capital of the world, it is a community known for it’s philanthropic generosity. There are 1,729 people that have a disability in Kosciusko County. Based on the national census, it is estimated that Kosciusko County has 9,185 people between the age of 16 to 64 with a disability affected their ability to work at a job or business (12% of the 76,541 people in this age group).   In Kosciusko County, it’s estimated that 2/3 of people with a disability between the age of 16 to 64 are not working.  84% of non-employed people with a disability say they would like to have a job.  (Source:  US 2000 Census)
